No. 56 Burnout, your stress cycle + learning how to regulate
How do you know when you’re burnt out—and what do you actually do about it?
In this episode, I’m breaking down how to spot the signs of burnout, what short-term recovery looks like, and how to build long-term prevention strategies. I’m pulling from the book Burnout (a forever favorite of mine), but also sharing some of my own experiences with “micro-burnout”—that week-to-week fatigue that sneaks up on us even with things we love.
We’ll get into:
The sneaky signs of burnout you might be writing off as “just being negative”
Short-term recovery: completing the stress cycle & giving your body the signal it’s safe
How crying, laughing, and even yawning can reset your system
Why suppressed anger especially drains women of energy & purpose
Long-term prevention: rest, boundaries, purpose, and community
Because burnout isn’t just about work—it’s about how we carry stress, and how we learn to let it go.

Your prescription for living well, dose for this week: Stress happens and will build up over time. We are going to need more prolonged periods of rest + reset — a career change, a lifestyle change, more hands on support, might be needed. We have to learn to live alongside burnout (hoping that changes over time and there is a culture and/or paradigm shift.) No shame for needing time or a break. 🌿🪴
