No. 52 Fearing rejection, over-explaining + managing perceptions

What happens when your life starts to feel a little too small? Maybe you’re craving more fun, connection, or adventure—but trying new things can feel awkward, intimidating, or hard to know where to start.

In this episode, I’m joined by Eleanor from @atxwitheleanor, a creator in Austin who’s made it her mission to find the best ways to explore the city, build community, and say yes to new experiences.

We get into:

  • How to overcome the fear of looking awkward or out of place

  • Simple, low-stakes ways to explore your city and meet new people

  • Tips for making new friends

  • How Eleanor finds and curates cool experiences

Whether you're itching for something new or just feeling stuck in the same old cycle, this episode might be the gentle nudge you need.

the evergreen rx prescription

Your prescription for living well, dose for this week: The desire to feel understood is strong + central for all of us. Underneath is the desire for connection that we all have. We continue to put ourselves out there in a brave way even if after experiencing heartbreak + loss. If you are questioning if you are too much or too different or if what you want is unreasonable — I am here to remind me that you aren’t/it isn’t. 💛 The spectrum of desire for connection levels goes from casual to deep. Are you seeking people that match the connection level you are interested in? Are they capable of the level of depth you seek? Healing around an area we have gotten some feedback on can make the types of connections we are wanting even more available to us. Activation can move us away from our discernment about who might be a good fit for us, Old wounds can keep us from being able to reach a deeper sense of calm in situations where we are looking for our people. Take time to settle and you will be better equipped to answer the questions - how well do we get along? are they looking for the depth of connection that i am looking for? do we have things in common? do i feel seen/valued around them? Tip: Look for the ways people are trying to connect with you even when it’s easier to focus on the moments that might not be going the way you hope or expected. 👯 A little exposure therapy goes a long way to developing your strength — face fears, handle things you think you can’t, bear how someone sees/perceives you, even when you don’t agree (with no need to explain!)
